What to expect before, during, and after the procedure, and how Botox injections came to be, and what they are used for most.

November 22, 2019 – Dr. Ali Cadili Suggests- The best rundown of Botox injections, what to expect before, during, and after the procedure, and how Botox injections came to be, and what they are used for most.

According to Dr. Cadili a Botox injection uses a toxin called onobotulinumtoxin to temporarily prevent a muscle from moving.  The most common use of these injections is to temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause wrinkles in the forehead around the eyes.

Botox is most effective on wrinkles that haven’t quite set, dynamic wrinkles that appear while you’re moving your face, such as smiling or frowning. The idea is that if you don’t move the muscle too much, you won’t form the wrinkle. Different looks can be achieved with different dosages, and doctor Ali Cadili can recommend the best dosage for what you need.

HOW TO PREPARE

According to Dr. Cadili, to prepare for your first Botox appointment, there are a few things to remember. Make sure to tell your doctor if you’ve had any type of Botox injection within the past four months. Inform your doctor if you take muscle relaxants, sleeping aids, or allergy medications. If you take blood thinners, you might need to stop taking them for a few days before the injection date to reduce risks of bleeding or bruising.

BEFORE

Before the procedure, you may have some numbing gel placed. Most people don’t feel much discomfort during the procedure, but you may want your skin numbed, especially if you are treating the hands and feet for excessive sweating. Dr. Ali Cadili’s team can choose from a few different methods to numb the area, such as topical anesthesia, ice, and vibration anesthesia, where a massage is used to reduce discomfort.

DURING

Botox injections are performed at a Dr. Cadili’s office, usually. The doctor Ali Cadili’s team will use a thin needle to inject tiny amounts of the Botox into your skin, or muscles. The number of injections needed depends on many different factors, including the extent of the area being treated.

AFTER

After the procedure, do not rub or massage the treated areas for twenty-four hours. This helps prevent the Botox from spreading to a different, unwanted are. You can return to normal activities directly after the procedure. The Botox injections will usually begin working one to three days after treatment. Depending on what was treated, the effect can last three months or longer. To maintain the effect, you’ll need regular follow up injections with Dr. Cadili’s team.
